MISSION STATEMENT
The Chinese Wushu and Tai Chi Academy’s mission is to improve and develop personal internal (mind, spirit),
and external (physical) health abilities; foster overall excellence, and contribute to an understanding of Eastern culture. And, importantly, encourage and promote
Wushu and Tai Chi Talent and Spirit.

SCHOOL OPERATION
The school year is divided into four semesters with 10 weeks in each semester. Class size is properly set to
emphasize the key, which is individualized instruction. The classes are carefully divided by levels to help the student learn and advance with step-by-step instruction.
At each academic level, the school emphasizes fundamental discipline, instructor professional standards, with inspiration and an encouraging teaching attitude.
The school regulations are strict. The purpose for this is to refine student’s excellence, promote moral and physical growth, and develop character.

The Chinese Wushu & Tai Chi Academy was established by Master Yijiao Hong in 1996. For over a decade, CWTA has fostered thousands of
students, teaching them Tai Chi and Wushu. Sifu Hong has trained students in Wushu and Tai Chi throughout
the metropolitan Seattle/Tacoma area. Sifu Hong also offers seminars and workshops to Seattle area elementary schools, high schools, universities, and corporations.
These include: Bush school, Lakeside school, Seattle University, Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Wizards of the Coast. Co-Instructor Pierce
Watters offers a community service Tai Chi class for residents at the Lakeshore Retirement Home.
At the First World Tai Chi Health Conference in Sanya, Heinan Island, China, in 2001, the Chinese Wushu & Tai Chi Academy Tai Chi Team including Co-Instructor
Pierce Watters, was interviewed by TV stations from all over China, including Hong Kong and Shanghai. Two CWTA students brought home Tai Chi medals: Sifu Restita
DeJesus with a Gold medal in Chen style, and Co-Assistant Instructor, Zachary Layng, a Silver medal in Chen style.

China in Dance
Asian Pacific Art Performing Theatre, Beijing Dance Academy, and World renowned Dance Master, Li Hengde, staged a special show to

In the year 2000, Sifu Hong and her students made a brief appearance in the Sylvester Stallone film, Get Carter.
Shaw Brothers, the famous Hong Kong film company, shot footage of Sifu Hong and her students for promotional use in Asia.
In 2004, Buster the bunny, best friend of PBS Kid’s show star Arthur, got his own series on PBS, Postcards from Buster.
In one episode, Buster visits Seattle and learns Wushu and Tai Chi from Sifu Hong and her students.
EVENTS
Seminars
Specialized
intensive courses offered by Master Yijiao Hong and other Masters
of Chinese Martial Arts and Qigong. These courses vary in length
from one hour to two days. Learn specialized techniques and applications
for Wushu and the Internal Arts, including Qigong.

Demo Team
Experienced
CWTA students may earn the privilege of training and performing
at community events in King County.
About
Master Yijiao Hong

Sifu Hong began
studying martial arts at age 8, and was a top third Wushu athlete
in Zhejiang Province, China. She earned a B.A. of Education Degree
with majors in Wushu and Tai Chi at the Zhejiang Normal University.
Sifu Hong then studied Traditional Chinese Medicine for two years
at Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Sifu Hong was
USA Forms Grand Champion; “Internal Athlete of the Year”;
USA National Team Member; performed nationally and internationally
including Canada, China, Hong Kong, and the USA.

Respect: Respect the art, parents, Shifu, seniors, self and others.
Humility: Humble heart and manner to learn and practice, yet have confidence.

Perseverance: Overcome the difficulties and challenges, a long enduring sense of purpose should be cultivated.

CWTA REGULATIONS
Students Must:
- Respect teacher
- Be Honest to your teacher, yourself, and your fellow students
- Address the master of the Academy as Sifu or Shifu, and all other instructors as Coach
- Pay tuition on time
- Be punctual at all classes
- Wear clean academy uniform and shoes to every class
- Inform the Instructors of any illness and injuries prior to and during the class
- Pay attention at all times during the class
- Be supportive to yourself and other students during class
- Seek permission from the Master of the Academy before performing and competing
- Immediately stop any divisive behavior inside or outside the classroom
Students Must
Not:
- Criticize other schools or teachers
- Criticize or correct other students
- Exhibit divisive behavior in intention, communications and action
- Use foul language
- Discriminate against other students
Violation may result in suspension or expulsion
Parents, relatives
and observers
- Ensure quality of our classroom
- Please do not disturb the teacher and students
- Please be quiet and rest at the arranged area
- Parents or relatives side coaching is prohibited
- Videoing only for your own family member—about 10 minutes
